Description

  • How do we finance the lives we want in the face of historically high and rising levels of household indebtedness?
  • What are the solutions or escape routes for those enduring such debts, and for transforming the institutions and practices producing them?
  • With household debt as historic highs, how do we finance a prosperous life without becoming over indebted?
  • Is there a way out of debt-dependency for individuals and the economy?

This workshop draws together academic and non-academic experts working on entanglements of domus and debt to develop innovative thinking about where we go next. The domus is invoked as the locus of the family and household, a site of caring practices, and a socio-technical system through which flows of energy, water and ‘waste’ move and are transformed. Through these different manifestations of domus, we explore ways to transform credit-debt relations to ensure they no longer constrain and exhaust individuals, collectives and populations at large.
